Tri County Fair! Summertime coming to an end.

Its that time of year my friends and non-friends who read my blog.   That means fried dough, fairs, apple picking, everything fallish. The humidity will slowly dwindle away and we will have chilly nights and luke-warm days. Just how i like it, I personally love fall and i think its what keeps me in new england.  I know for sure it is not the 2 foot snow drifts or icicles hanging off the doorway.






Today we went to the Tri county fair in Northampton, ma. It was definately fun, but i noticed there was not many people there at all. Definately seemed like alot of farmers and people might not of made it where for whatever reason(im guessing hurricane irene, tropical storm whatever). If you are wondering if it is worth going at all i would say yeah for sure its worth it! The tiger show was Very Very good. They let 7 tigers enter the ring and the guy has a handful keeping them from eating him. my kind of entertainment!

BRING it on fall... We fernette's are ready to brave your Wallet emptying, Gut filling, Heartburn creating forces.  Im not affraid and welcome it whole heartedly.   Quick update - Kaylee had open house at ja'duke this last week and she is wicked excited to be going to school. She starts on the 9th of September and will go just monday and fridays half days. we decided she didn't need it for learning but more for social interaction.  Also she will do dance on monday's right after school and shes way excited for that.  Kinda weird seeing her grow up like this .  My niece ella started school and had her first day recently and it made me happy but sad at the same moment. Seems like just yesterday she was so tiny and young.  I just have to accept that it never slows down!  Does it?

Summertime 2011

Its here everyone, Hot days warm nights.  Time to go camping, Swim in the river, go boating etc.  So far this year we have not gotten our boat going and are not sure if it will happen or not. Most likely not. I used to take it out alot more before i hurt my back and Money is tight with my durango kicking the bucket... Still for sale anyone want it :). The 4th of july just passed and it was a pretty good one this year for us.

Tornados Across Western Mass

Wednesday was  a crazy day in western mass. It was around 2:30 when melissa let me know it was going to rain so we ran around the backyard picking up leftovers from our memorial day cookout. The skies wer elooking really weird i remmeber thinking to myself.  We headed inside and watch some news. There was some severe storm watches and warnings then there was a tornodo watch. I had to leave around 4 to head to chicopee to be at class for 6pm. It downpoured right before i left and no tornadoes had hit so i decided i would travel to school.

Things to do this summer near greenfield, MA

Every summer we are always trying to find things to do in this erea.. I think we can all agree western mass isnt exactly the most happening place in massachusetts. So i am going to write everything I can find thats going on locally that might even be remotely fun to do and add it to this blog post.

Started school, Mothers Day, Spring is here!

Oooohhhh reallllyyyy....   The birds are chirping, The ants are entering the house! The dogs are pooping.... oh wait they pooped in winter tooooo. But anyways its spring, The temperatures aren't exactly  springlike on some days but its gradually getting warmer and warmer. Kaylee is loving the outdoors, We found a playhouse for her at a tag sale for $10. What a bargain by the bagful huh? We played in it for about 2 hours a few days ago. We read books and played kitchen(it has a built in kitchen).   We mowed the lawn for the first time, Very exciting. Yesterday we even had a emergency at the house. I Had a REALLY bad headache all day, i left to go to an auction around 11am, Came home at 3, Eric stopped by and i smelled like rotten eggs and propane smell.... Well my awesome neighbor came over and told us the propane tank was leaking bad. I ran outside and it was hissin like  a BiatcH! I called 911, The fire Dept came real quick and kept us away from the house.  The nearest rice ouil guy was in Shelburne falls so it took a bit for him to get here... Long story short he recapped the tank and they have to bring it to their place and rebuild the tank. Very scary because melissa was sleeping all day with the bedroom window open and she was SOooo sick when we got out of the house. She was on the verge of passing out for like 45 minutes.  All is well no0w. Thanks Tim and eric for being here. And also the neighbors for Checking on us and Telling us about the leak!  Thanks fire dept.. you guys are Total hunks!!!!



I started school 2 weeks ago at porter and chester, I have learned more in 2 weeks than i could learn on my own in 2 months. The instructor (mr g ) is a total hammer and loves teaching his students. I'm very excited and Think i am going to love this course. The Ride there and home and sitting in class makes me cry alot but I will make it through it.   My backpack quickly went from 3 pounds to 235879234175034 pounds so i had to invest in a targus rolling briefcase. Much better on the spine.  So schools good, i was nervous at first but a lot less nervous now. Now i just need to figure the car thing out, I could fix my durango but see no point in driving a 11mpg vehicle to chicopee....

 

 

ANndddddd Today is mothers day!

 

I just need to take a second to say thank you to melissa. She has been such an amazing wife , friend, support person, Psychiatrist :) and mostly an amazing Mother to kaylee. Not easy when you work nights, And have a husband who is a total WRECK . Yet she always finds time to clean the house, Rub my back, Make me breakfast, Play with kaylee sing her songs,  I have so much respect for her its hard to express.   Thank you melissa for everything you have done In the last 2 years for Kaylee and myself! I love you hun. Thank you thank you thank you! And also thank you to Every mother That i know! Thank you, Kelly, donna, Michelle, Mimi, shelly, Jess, and anyone else i forgot. Boston Red Sox

Well its here finally.  WE waited all winter for mlb baseball to start. Whether you are a yankees fan or a rays fan, red sox fan whatever, Baseball is a great sport to be a fan of. Its not for everyone as it can be a very slow game. But when that home run is hit in the bottom of the ninth for the win its so exciting.

 

I personally am a die hard red sox fan. They could never win a world series ever or even have  a winning record and i would still be a fan. I love the logo designs on clothing, I love  the Anouncers (don and jerry) on nesn, Theres not much i dont like about the red sox. Which brings me to the beggining of this season. Im not liking the start the redsox have had this 2011 season lol.  They made some huge pickups in the offseason, Carl crawford, Adrian gonzalez,  Im not a fan of the catcher they have (saltalamachia ?SP?) I know veritek is not the greatest hitter but he brings much more to the team then hitting. Hes a great leader and knows batters and how thye hit. So he hlps pitchers know a hitters weaknesses.

 

One thing that really bothers me is how On opening ticket sales day it is impossible to get tickets. I believe the red sox need to care more about the fans in this matter. Just to go to any game you have to pay at least twice the face price for a ticket.  Nesn has acetickets as a sponsor:/ Ugh>...  I personally always buy tickets from stubhub.com, I always overpay but seems to be better deals then acetickets.com.  Im hoping to get to at least a few games this year. That would be sweet!.  Although ill admit it its nice watching games on nesn they do such a good job with the games. Andf heidi watney isnt to bad to look at either. :).

We have already tought kaylee to say "goooo redsox". I was wearing a red sox tshirt the other morning and she woke up ran out of her bedroom and yelled GO REDSOX. I totally cracked up and it made my day to know Im forcing my daughter to be a redsox fan. Kids shouldnt even have a choice who they like. If you are  from florida you like the marlins or the rays. If you are  from massachusetts you need to like the RED SOX DAMMIT.. jk. But i will do everything within my power to have kaylee be a red sox fan.  I know i know the redsox are off to a horrible start, but things will come together i am sure of this. And if they dont and the redsox suck this year I will still wear their shirts and be their fan. Ok im outie gotta go watch the sox beat the Blue jays! WOOP!

Kaylee Turns 2 Years old. WOW!

Back in the day when melissa was pregnant, Everyone told us "wait till kaylees born time is going to fly by"  We knew that kaylee would grow up fast but geesh, Time really does fly by. The last 2 years was a blur. A blur of good times, laughs with kaylee. She is such a goofy kid just like her father (thats me!). Now that she has hit 2 years old things have definately chnaged. For the worse mostly, she just has such a attitude and always wants her own way. We put her in timeout when she is bad but she just sits there and laughs.

 

Kaylees newest thing is when you ask her a question she replys with "sure". Too funny!   Kaylees 2 year birthday party was a good time. It turned out pretty good. There was a good amount of family and friends here to celebrate.  The kids  did a pinata (one that you pulled on strings).We also played pin the flower on minnie mouse. Kaylee loved that game so much it is now hanging over her bed in her bedroom. Kaylee goes this saturday to sleep over Auntie kelly's and uncle DJ's house to hang out with ella. Good times.

I know in june we are going to Cape cod to visit mike and lee, and Memorial day we are having a cookout at our houseand everyone is invited.  April 25th i start school 3 days a week so not toooo bad.  We also did a payment plan for six flags season tickets. It was a pretty good deal you get your tickets now and make 3 payments over 3 months. BAM!  Yup you guessed it we will be spending a good amount of time there with kaylee. She loves the wiggles concert in wiggles world.

Its Finally time...

I finally decided im done sitting on my ass wasting my life away. I took a trip down to chicopee to check out the porter and chester intsitute. I actually loved it and Am in my last phases of starting school. I will be starting april 25th. Im doing the night classes which are from like 6pm to 11pm i think.  If all goes well my back should be better just about the time im graduating 18 months.  I was approved for the private disability insurance till retirement age but honestly i cant do that. Ive always loved working and i think thats what made me last 10 years at c&s.  Im doing the computers and computer network training. At the end i will be a+ certified microsoft certified and a couple other certs. Should be plenty to get an entry level  job somewhere like mass mutual or something.



 

I am trying hard to get the hartford or The army to help with education costs also, but looks like it will mostly be government loans and private loans :/. The program is quite expensive so im hoping it works out for me in the end.  Worst case scenario is i continue my computer business and do what i love :).  Short quick blog but wanted to let anyone who cares know i am going to school finally. Ive gotten over leaving c&s and moving on .. GO TEAM FERNETTE

 

 

HEyyyyy MACARENA!!!!

About 4 times a day ive had the same thought go through my head since i hurt my back. "what the hell am i going to do for work when im better" This last meeting with the surgeon gave me hope. He said there is some fusion going on. My opinion would suggest otherwise but i am trying to stay positive about the whole situation.  The radiologist who read the CT scan dissagreed with the surgeon and says no fusion. Who to believe :/. So i finally decided to take some online classes instead of just wasting time sitting at home all day. Im taking a entry level xml/html class to start. I was lucky that the instructor let me join in a week behind the other students. So far i really like the setup of online learning. Ive found it a challenge to watch kaylee, interact with her and get work done, But in the long run i figured it will only help me with what i want to do for a career ( which is??????? i dont have a clue!)  The one thing i always am interested in and love doing is fixing computers. But i decided i needed more skills then just technical skills so i thought web design classes would add to my resume and help me expand my artistic abilities along with my technical skills.  I Did a website for a client in easthampton called www.zinashair.com. It is a Hair salon run by one of my buddies wife called Hairspace. Very cool place check it out sometime!



 

I got a prescription for physical therapy and am looking forward to starting that. I chose to go to the body shoppe in greeenfield. I have heard multiple good things about their physical therapy program.  It is going to be a 3 month program so should bring me right to good weather time.... WOOHOO cant wait for sunshine, warm days!!!!   There is just so much more to do when its nice outside.



kaylee and I have done everything possible inside and have a serious case of cabin fever. Believe it or not its only 6 days until kaylee is 2 years old. Everyone told melissa and I that time will fly by but holy crapola they werent kidding. She is growing up so fast. She has such a hilarious personality, the things she says crack me up daily. Its almost time to start dance classes and More activities. We are talking about joining the ymca in greenfield. I think it would be a great thing! I personally grew up going to the ymca daily as a kid and teenager. It pretty much kept me sane during my school years. I also heard they added a 10 person jacuzzi which would feel ohhh so good to relax in.



And in closing i just want to state that I am so excited about spring coming that i think i will peepee in my pants the first time i go fishing this year. I didnt get much fishing done last year with my back pain but feel I can get ALOT more in this year. Im sad everytime i look out back at the snowcovered boat and jsut want to start it and hear it go VROOOOMVROOOOM.  Soon enough kortney Soon enough!

NO HANKY PANKY Dr Jones!!!!

Know what movie that is? Its indiana jones and the temple of doom. Classic! Growing up me and my sister would watch that along with The goonies, Romancing the stone and a few other movies Over and Over and Over. There wasnt really much to do when we lived in florida accept watch tv and stay indoors because it was about 200 degrees outside. I guess that's why i live in new england. I like the snow( im ready for spring though) and LOVE fall. I take it for granted where we live but then i travel to a flat state and can really appreciate the mountains. We live in a beautiful area of the Us.

Ever since we got back from vacation kaylee has been such a talkomatico! She looked at us yesterday at mimi and grampas and saw a stethoscope and said DOCTOR. Where the heck did she learn that. Im going to guess she learned that on mickey mouse clubhouse, That's a major staple of kaylee's daily tv diet. That and caillou and Dora. We put a small tv in her room to try and get her to interact with her toys more then she has been and its actually working. She spends a good amount of time in there which can be quite nice to be able to watch adult programming on the living room tv.

Anger such a fun thing :/

For Christmas we got some pretty cool gifts. From grampa we got a shovel that says "free snow shovel all you want" Its super cute. And a Sign that says The fernette's. We also got a fernette sign from erin which is hanging On our carport. I love homemade gifts@!

Kaylee is loving the snow. She didn't really get to play in it last year because she was only like 9 months old. I built kaylee a jump and took her for a ride on her inflatable sled. Bad idea kortney, She flipped over in the air and the sled dragged her face down with the sled on top of her about 4 feet. Lesson learned, Make her wear a helmet!


Sooooo December was a good m0nth.... January has started out good. I have a ct scan come the end of january, Then a follow-up Like feb 5th to talk about another surgery since the fusion failed. Dr mick said he wants to go through my front this time and put titanium rods on the front of the disc space. Ugh. I dont know if i can handle another surgery, The last one was hell. IT was most likely because i had an infection for a million months. Maybe this one will be much smoother, I dont know. But hopefully january ends on a good note!
