So my point is, I have gained about 60 Pounds since I have stopped working, Its very hard to lose weight when Exercising has challenges such as i have.  Those who know me Know that i try to not let me "issues" effect me too much. Ice Ice BabY!

Its the magical thing that takes away pain when you really just need it gone! Its called ice, ice packs, frozen vegetables will even work. I remember one time i used some frozen peas so many times i was laying in bed and smelled something rotting. Yup it was my "ice pack" of peas..... So remember kids alternate your  ice veggies or throw them out after a few uses.
Kaylee spent the night over mimi and bumpas house so Mel and I got to sleep in today. I think i woke up sometime around 7:30am, yes that is sleeping in nowadays. We were scheduled for a 9:30 arrival at cooley dickinson for surgery prep work. We could tell right away that they were behind in the schedule. They took me in to get my cool jonny on and get me prepped for surgery. I got to get my whole hip shaved and wiped with slimy antibacterial cloths. After much waiting and waiting and waiting(ok so i dosed off alot) i was finally wheeled away for surgery around 12:15. So not too horrible considering my Time was scheduled for 10:55.  NExt thing i know im being yelled at by tons of people saying  "WAKE UP KORTNEY WAKE UP" and i could not stop shaking . I felt like my body was unvoluntarily harlem shaking against my will! A couple big thick warm blankets later and lots of deep breaths of oxygen and i was good to go.  In comes wifey, a bit of monitoring and off we go for the ride home. I gotta say my experience with cooley dickinson was the exact opposite as last time i had surgery there. Everyone was nice, caring, kind and you could tell they actually gave a shit what was going on around them.

Pre surgery nap, Thanks to  IV FentanyL!

For anyone who is reading this and may ever have or thinking of having this surgyer, here is some items i HIGHLY reccommend you get and have at home prior to you returning home from surgery.

1. Make sure you have plent of either Ice pakcs, Gel packs or better yet rent or borrow a Cryocuff type machine. The best of these being the gameready machine which is a hefty price of $300 for 5 days.. EeK

2. Have towels near by that can easily be rolled up and stuffed next to your leg to keep it from moving. THe leg tends to tilt and it hurts VERY  bad if not propped with a pillow.

3.  try and be as invisible as possible. I know during recovery you will need help from your spouse friends etc. But try not to be annoying and get on their nerves. Do as much as you can for yourself. Grab more than one drink and keep it next to you on your end table so you are not asking over and over again for help.

If anyone needs me Ill be hanging out with my good friends El Senor ice pack and Mr Oxycodone!... VIVA LA RASTA!!!!

Arthroscopic Surgery, llamas that spit, coil packs and shes 4 and a half now!

Some of them try to rhyme but they can't Rhyme like this NOOOOOOO!!!!. Yes folks we are t minus 1 day until Revision surgery number 1 on my left hip. The surgery i got December 6th 2012 most definately did not work and stuff is a complete mess in there.  My last surgery recovery may have been tainted by the fact that i could not afford Physical therapy. It is $150/week and that doesn't include my doctors visit co pays too. Who just has an xtra 600/month laying around for PT.  And every time i went they just talked to me, asked some questions and did a few exercises. So not worth the $50 copay. If anyone has suggestions for a good Physical Therapist that deals with FAI or Arthroscopic recovery please email me jeepkort@yahoo.com, or message me on Facebook. I had to drive down and get tested for MRSA and got a call a few days ago saying that i was positive for colonization of MRSA. At first i was freaking out but after reading some inter webs sites i learned that a good amount of people carry it around without even knowing it. I most likely got it from wifey who is around it almost daily at the hospital. MRSA Is Disgusting!

As i was driving home from picking up kaylee from Ja'duke the other day all of a sudden i noticed i was getting a serious back massage from my seat in my truck. There was a severe shuttering vibration coming from the engine compartment that shook the whole truck like one of those seats at six flags where you spend a quarter to vibrate the shit out of your feet to make them feel good.  After a trip to autozone and a Computer code reading it was identified that cylinder #2 was not firing correctly. SO i purchased a coil pack for my truck and off i went vibrating down the road. If anyone is wicked bored and wants to install my coil pack for me let me know :).  I looked on ebay and for 8 Coil packs it was $54.. Guess how much just 1 was at autozone.............. Yup it was $56 for ONE!!!!!! holy RipOff Batman!
Just to clear a little bit of confusion up, Kaylee is not 4 years old! She is 4 and a half years old. She makes sure she corrects me when i say she is 4.. What was i thinking, apparently that half year is a HUGE deal to a 4 year old :)
I will be blogging almost daily hopefully during my recovery from my surgery as i know there is alot of people who visit my blog just to learn more about FAI and the issues i have with my hips.  Sorry if this Bores the majority of you but ill get back to more interesting things some day!  Thanks for taking the time to suffer through another blog post :)
Here are a few pictures from adventures I call LIFE!

Femoral Acetabular Impingement, FAI, Failed surgery is for the BirDs!

December 6th 2012. That was the date i had my Minimally invasive surgery to Correct my FAI and to clean out my labral tears in my left hip. For anyone who doesnt know i was diagnosed with bilateral FAI and Labral tears in both hips. Here is some info on FAI  Sooooooooo here we are 8 months post op and i have to say that my surgery was a complete failure.  My surgeon was not too impressed when i told him it didnt work, in fact Theres more grinding, popping, cracking now and sometimes randomly when i step on my left leg something gets pinched in my groin and i have to remove the weight from my leg at warp speed!  Im quite lost at this point, i know i have SI joint issues, What i dont know is which one caused the other one or what is my next step. I just finished 3 synvisc injections and those also dont seem to have improved the situation any. Bah humbug to doctors and their slow ass way of doing things.

Theres a chill in the air, evenings are getting down to around 45-50 degrees and you can tell fall is on its way! Days are still near 80 which is nice and i can totally handle the heat anyways. Its the cold weather im dreading. The snow, sleet, Aching spine type of weather where if i didnt have a kid i wouldnt even step outside ever.  Bring on the haunted hayrides, hot cider and Leaves all over the yard! Bring on the sweatshirt wearing, jeans wearing, sock wearing weather. Im ready for you dammit.   Heres to hoping everyone has a GREAT fall season and makes it through winter ok!

Sometimes I am a fantabulous parent!

Yes a fantabulous parent! Is fantabulous a word you ask? Well of course it is not but that is not reason enough for me to stop using it.  I have been having this serious issue as of late with my daughter(kaylee). Now that she is getting older i am starting to notice that she has definately gotten my sense of humor and sillyness. My issues are that when i should be reprimanding her for something im usually borderline cracking up because she is so funny. Times when i know i should have a stern face and be disciplining her im usually holding back humongous amounts of cackling laughter.  I mean obviously i want to stick to my guns and teach her right from wrong but this girl is seriously hilarious and i just cant take it!  Does any other parents laugh when they should be scolding their child? I hope that its a normal occurrence and i'm not just some weirdo! .......

For those who dont know, with LOTS of help from kaylee the fernette family has planted a garden this year.  We decided its a great way to get kaylee to eat some more veggies, and to add some vegetables to our dinners more often. Too often ill cook chicken with mac n cheese and no veggie type of meals.  Today while kaylee was outside playing i noticed the peas are starting to sprout! Soooooo exciting!!!   I figured might as well have a garden before the government makes it illegal to grow your own veggies and have a garden.  Now if i could just discover how to grow a money tree all would be grand!  This post is going to be a short one. As you can see not very much interesting goes on in my life al too often. Melissa is still in school finishing up her bachelors degree(1 year left). Then she moves on to her masters. I graduated Porter & Chester and am investigating other educational Avenues that i might be interested in doing.  Kaylee still goes to Jaduke preschool one day a week and does Tball on weekends.   I quickly wanted to share an experience i had with all my male friends with wives/girlfriends. DO NOT let your Gf/wife mow the lawn or you will never be able to do it agian. I made the mistake of letting melissa mow with the rider mower and ow i cant get her off that darn thing!!!!  What a mistake grrrr.  But come summertime i guess that gives me more time to sit in the pool. Sitting in the pool or any water for that matter is my happy place. it is the only place where i can say my back feels "normal". All the weight is taken off the discs/joints and it makes me want to invent a water suit :).

Sooooo as i sit here listening the the neighbor drive his mower around for hours on end I will say Adios Amigos! Hasta la bye bye!

-=EVIL CUSTOMER SERVICE BITCHES!!!!=-

EVIL CUSTOMER SERVICE BITCHES!!!!!!!

Do you know the ones that i am talking about? The (mostly) girls sometimes guys,  who hate their jobs but  for some ungodly reason still work in the customer service occupation. Listen if you hate your life, and want to be rude to people who are obviously already at a doctors office because they have their own problems to deal with FIND A NEW JOB...... Be a trash collector... Or maybe be a Furniture repair person? Anything where you don't have to interact on a daily basis with any other person.  I'm not the type of person to be picky or critique someone either but holy COCK N BALLS cant you at least return the "hello how are you" that i offered when walking up to the reception desk?

My experiences today involved me walking into my doctors  reception, saying hello not having the girl say anything back and just put her hand out for my paperwork. I had all i could do to bite my tongue and ask her why is she such a bitch. For anyone who knows me i'm very understanding and brush stuff off easily but today everyone hated their jobs, doctors Slammed you through like a puppy mill and no one cared about anything. It seems to be getting worse and worse every time i go to the doctors. When i arrived the lady in front of me had a 8:30 appointment with my Dr and the lady behind me had a 8:30 appointment with my DR... ?? my appointment was for 8:30 and melissa knew the lady in the back of me and she was still waiting for the doctor when we were back on our way driving on 91.... They just keep triple and quadruple booking people to get more and more $$......

BAH It only cost me $100 dollars in co pays to see 2 doctors today. My copay used to be $25 which was much more manageable. Speaking about co pays how about the ones they expected me to pay to go see Physical therapy 3 times/week after my FAI and Hip labral tear surgery. How do they just expect me to have a spare $150 laying around that i would not miss at all to pay for the Physical therapy. Do i wish that i was doing physical therapy? OF COURSE I DO, My hip is killing me and most likely not recovering the way that is should be, but i just cant justify spending $600 a month to go to a 30 minute PT appointment where they get you in late and rush you out because they are running late. Appointments usually never lead to anything being accomplished because there is no time for anything besides the Physical Therapist asking a few questions then kicking you out the door. So i did talk with my hip doctor today and he affirmed my suspicions that my deformed femur bones and FAI were most likely the cause of my destroyed back. SI joint and hips. Its nice to finally here a reason from a doctor as to why i am dealing with this clusterfuck Im dealing with. We are paying more for healthcare, getting less in services and most definitely having to deal with A SHIT TON of more grumpy customer service bitches! .... ............and bastards :)

Pretty Princess sparkles Candy world!

If you have not guessed already my daughter kaylee was 100% in charge of coming up with todays blog post title. Although i don't understand it, it seems pretty Dope so we will keep it.  She wants to let everyone know she likes Mike and sulley and all of their monster friends.  So the other day i was sitting here taking a break from playing barbies and Hide and seek. I was playing on my computer and kaylee looked at me and in a wicked snotty voice said " Daddy don't you know your daughter is more important.... then the computer. You need to play with your daughter".  Are you kidding me? Where does she learn this stuff lol.  Needless to say it made me feel horrible but i did not want her to know that so i told her she couldnt talk to me that way but inside i was ROFL like a MofO!   She has the quickest wit ever for a 3 year old, she is definately my daily dose  of humor for sure.  Don't forget to check out my sponsors

I recently had a doctors appointment and we talked about me losing weight. I brought the topic up and the doctor gave me some pointers and pretty much the less i weigh the less pain i will have in my pinched nerve in my back. So Wife and I have decided to change everything we eat and are on a low carb low calorie diet.  It was very interesting going shopping for the first time looking for low carb items.  Melissa had told me pretty much shop around the outside edges of stores to eat the more healthy things. I said that was silly but after spending some time in the store and looking at items she was right. Milks, cheese items are healthy. Meats are healthy and of course veggies are OOBER healthy.  But how ok is it that shopping healthy is 2 to 3 times more expensive then buying junk food.  It should not be that way! Grrrrr.

So for anyone who wants to follow my weight loss i will be updating it on my blog of course.  At my doctors appointment i was 266.5 LBS so i will use that as my starting weight. My goal is to get back down around 225 which is what i weighed while working at c&s wholesaler Grocers.  I kno when i was in bootcamp i was at my lowest weight which was 196 and i was a complete toothpick.  I dont want to be skinny skinny but i dont want to be Morbidly obese anymore either. I owe it to kaylee to lose some weight  so i can do more things with her and get my back healthy!   Can i lose 40 Pounds?  I think i can!  I have replaced bread with  this cool flax, bran pita stuff which is only 4G of carbs per pita. And they are actually fairly yummy.  But like i was saying i can get 6 Pitas for 6 dollars or i can get a whole loaf of bread for $1.......    Unacceptable I say!!!!!! BAM!

Check back often for updates! I will try and do weekly updates but my life is not  exactly interesting enough to write that often.

Heres some words from the Super wise Kaylee -  Hi everyone! monsters is chasing the princesses! a penny is chasing a cat monster. A fair a fair a fair......   When the fair goes to peoples houses, people goes to the fair ever ever ever. For the end of their life and they play and sing and play games. And play on rides and go on rides.  I love them very much. ( shes talking to all of you here)  Doesnt that blog look good daddy? Princesses, princesses i wish i could go to the lala loopsy land. I wanna go to it right now but i cant because i cant. And i want to and i cant find my snow globe anywhere to make my wishes come true.  I paint really much at school i like to play dressup, and they got new costumes from upstairs at school.  i have friends in my class, they are patrick, xander, and ivy, and kaylee, and patrick, Madison and yes my teachers are ms juniper and ms dani.

LOL i got a future blogger on my hands i do believe!

Kindle Fire HD Review and some BLAHBLAHBLAH!

Soooooo prior to Christmas time i had won $175 worth of Amazon gift cards from dealdash.com and they had never came till after Christmas. I used the gift cards and a little of my money to get a Kindle Fire HD. I gotta say that i am pleasantly surprised with the little bastard!  For anyone who doesnt know a Kindle Fire HD is a 7 inch tablet running a highly customized "amazon" version of the android operating system.  It has 1GB of RAM and a dual core 1.2GHZ processor. It has been able to handle just about anything ive thrown at it. And for anyone who knows me, you know ill be installing my own Operating system and hacking the crap out of it. Ill will pot an update on how that goes.  The fit and finish on the Fire Hd is very good. It seems very solid and actually feels a bit heavy in the hand but Id guess thats because the size of the battery. Speaking of battery life, it really depends on what you are doing with the Kindle HD. If you are reading you can get a whole day of use out of the Unit. If you are playing games, web surfing and doing processor heavy items the battery will only last about 4-6 hours. overall i would highly recommend anyone getting a Kindle Fire HD. It is far from being a ipad but at 199 for the HD and 159 for the Regular Fire its a pretty good deal. Of course i got mine from Amazon using shop.afriendtofriend.com so "A Friend To Friend" would get the donation. Good stuff right there.  Now on to the blah blah blah!

BLAH BLAH.... BLAH BLAH BLAh.........

Holiday Toy Packaging A Christmas ConspiracY!

Its a conspiracy i saY! Why in this amazingly confusing world do companies believe they need to package toys and pretty much lock them inside the packaging with Zip-ties, Wires, Chains and cables.  I swear some of my daughters toys she got for Christmas had an extra pound of straps holding the toy to the piece of cardboard in the package.

Why do they do this? i mean i get it, i understand the companies want the product to not move round and they want it to look perfect in the package. They also dont want the item to get damaged but Come on noW they are going way overboard.  I know this isn't new to this year but i have seen such an over abundance of tie downs in Kids toys this year that ha got me all riled up.  Here is an interesting article with some opinions on the topic. http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/142918 .  Now please before you go an say DUh Kortney they need the straps, I know they need the straps but i just don't think they need so many. Reduce the strapping by like 50% and make it so parents are not spending 20 minutes opening each Xmas present for their child.  Maybe make it o i don't need to go searching through a tool bag to find bolt cutters and tin snips? I guess parents could always go through and open all the gifts beforehand and save time but what kid does not enjoy Unwrapping a gift and handing it to mommy/daddy and asking them to "open please"    Good times! Merry Christmas everyone and Happy Holidays!!! Here is another interesting Webpage about Toy  packaging

Oh and Happy New Year from your Mostest Favorite Guy with a girls name!(kortney)

First Follow up with Doc 12-19-2012

Good morning folks! How in the Holly BerrY ARE  u!?  I had my first follow up appointment with Dr fallon yesterday.Dr fallon was happy with everything and gave me the all clear to start putting weight slowly on my left hip and leg.  It actually feels really good to bear weight on my left leg. The leg goes a little numb but Is getting better every time i get up. I still have to use crutches for a week and a half more but they are more or less just there to take a little bit f weight off the leg. Around December 10th Melissa had told me my truck had a flat tire so yesterday we bought a tire inflater at CAPS. Well guess what, it was a a 250 PSI Inflator and do you think it inflated my flat tire?   huh? Do you?

Nope, It didnt inflate the tire at all. I had it on for about 20 minutes and there was no change in the tire at all.  Now i know for future reference that those tiny tire inflators are not meant to pump up a huge truck tire from totally flat. I guess i gotta remove the tire and bring it to tire warehouse. So if anyone has a portable air compressor or a really good Inflator i can borrow i would much appreciate it!   With christmas just on the horizon ( 6 days away!) its nice that i can move around a bit more and do more around the house. Today we plan on wrapping gifts finally and getting stuff ready for kaylee. I was also cleared to drive the truck again but that wont be happening until i fix the flat tire.  So Happy  Holidays and Merry Christmas to all our friends, Family and everyone we know out there! May 2013 bring lots of great opportunities and health for your families!

Hip Hop! Hip Hop Anonymous! 7 Days Post Surgery Update!

yes sir/mam! It is 7 days after my hip surgery and im starting to understand all the forum posts and blogs i spent hour upon hour reading before my surgerY.  The area that was repaired in my hip has such a small supply of blood that healing in that area takes forever. And by forever i mean probably a year to feel like i never had surgery. I can honestly say that i feel different now though and its good pain that i feel daily as opposed to before surgery dealing with testicle pain and limping daily.   I'm glad i had it done but i feel like such a burden having melissa wait on me like a waitress all day. I have been getting up and moving around but im not so eager to do so after last night :}.  You should see my end table next to my chair it looks like a trash can vomited all over the place. Melissa is never impressed when she comes to collect my trash :).

I was returning to my chair and had stopped to lean backwards and sit down when i lost my balance started falling forward and put weight on my left leg to save me from falling. WEll that didn't work because my left leg was not happy and i cris-crossed my crutches and fell in the corner by my chair in the living room.  It felt like something tore and  now i'm back to how i felt around day 2 or 3.  Lesson learned..... Get some damn skills and learn how to use crutches.   I want to say i'm just so happy with the people who have helped out  during this mess and you know who you are! I sometimes catch myself smiling when thinking about all the new friends we have and family that we are lucky enough to have live close by. A couple people have asked me what my favorite tv shows are so here goes! I am a regular tv viewer of anything on discovery but my favorite shows are American chopper/orange county choppers, gold rush, Jungle gold, moonshiners and myth busters. The only other shows i'm a regular watcher of are The walking dead, Revolution  and I've  just started watching american horror story season 1 online. If you like to watch freaky mind blowing stuff check out American horror story! It reminds me alot of that old show on HBO Tales from the crypt.   So to sum up my next few days i plan to sit in the recliner and watch TV and play catch with kaylee with her favorite purple ball and take a couple naps. I DO NOT plan on falling anymore because falling after a HIP surgery is pretty much not a good idea and just sets the healing process back.  LONG LIVE YENTROK ETTENREF !!!!! How cool is it that my name backwards actually sounds kinda neat? lol lUv iT!

Here is a few Pictures of the healing processor after surgery!

3 Days post oP Update

Today is Sunday December 9th and my surgery was on thursday the 6th. Sleeping at night has been better then i had first imagined as long as i sleep in the recliner. Sleeping on my back has been the key and wedging something between the arm of the recliner and my leg to keep my leg from mowing outwards.  I have had alot of What feels like dislocation from the joint. It feels like the femur keeps popping out of the socket and back in quick when i am in certain positions. I have  read alot of material about a brace called the bledsoe brace that prevents this from happening and speeds up Post surgery healing.  Pain levels have been bearable but i have taken way too many pain pills  also.

I still have not gotten used to not using my left leg and find myself putting weight on it every once in a while. My hip certainly lets me know right away im doing something wrong. Im worried that too much labram was removed and i am going to have issues with dislocation, The doctor and every article ive read has hinted that there is a HIGH % that a total hip replacement will be needed shortly down the road because the fat they could not repair the labram and just had to remove it instead. Also there was Arthritis and FAI impingement. Now that i feel the difference i know that the right hip will also need the surgery. I have never ever been able to sit indian style since i was a little kid and i always ran like a complete weirdo. Now i get why, it was my range of motion being interrupted by  the misshapen bones in my hip. Grrrrrrrrrr. I am defective.  The most positive outcome from all of this is i can actually feel myself being able to sit longer where as before my back would hurt too bad to stay in one position too long. I think the hip issue was tearing my back up. Thank god i went to a new doctor and did not just continue getting surgeries for my back. How can i repair my back when im walking with a huge limp my whole life.  Sooo as i said im 3 days into my recovery and i have between 3-6 months until i should be walking limp free and hopefully pain free.   most likely after the new year i will be having the conversation with Dr Fallon about the right hip and getting that done. If anyone has any suggestions for a really good Physical therapist in the greenfield, MA area for hips feel free to shoot me an email to kortney@thekortex.com. I am open to any and all suggestions.

Last night was my first shower since post Operation and it was very interesting to say the least. Thank goodness i am happily married and comfortable with my wife cleaning me in the shower. It could be uncomfortable if i had just met melissa a few weeks ago lol.  Many people have asked me how long i have had the hip pain and Are suprised when i say my whole life... Let me explain, i have had weird pain that limited my abilities and range of motion but only serious pain since i hurt my back in 2009.  For anyone who is contemplating getting this surgery i highly reccomend doing your research and choosing a doctor who does many of the operations each year. You really want a surgeon who knows how to repair the labram and cartilage and not just remove it. When they remove it it creates space where the femur can actually just bounce in and out of the joint and from my experience it is NOT comfortable at all.  Dr fallon explained because i did not get my hip fixed at first signs of pain it had turned into a crab meat like texture and was Non-repairable .  Also if you have access to a Constant coling/ice therapy machine like a cryocuff that is a HUGE help. I only use a ice pack and it can be a pain trrying to get it back in the freezing while holding it in my mouth and stumbling on my crutches out to the freezer.  SO over all 3 days after surgery things are going "ok" as long as i keep the weight off my left leg and i keep icing whenever possible.   We have been very lucky that during this busy time Friends and family have volunteered to deliver us dinners each evening. I never understood how much of a help this is until i was the one injured and we needed the help. It is such a HUGE helP!

Thank you A FRIEND TO FRIEND !  A Friend to friend is a local non profit group of volunteers with HUGE hearts who love helping those in need! And thank you friends and family. I feel so blessed to be so cared about. The positive vibes make me stay positive which will help me heal i believe. SUNDAY FUNDAY! well sunday watch football day! Kaylee and melissa are off to santas land and Im at home sitting in the recliner resting. I hate not being with them but know its for the better! THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!

Femoral acetabular impingement/ Labral tear. Can i get a what? what?

BAM!   BAM?   BAM ....................

whatwhat? Who? What?   Woke up today around 4:30 to get ready for my surgery at cooley dickinson.  My surgery was scheduled for a 6am arrival and 8am operating room time.  Went through all the pre op stuff , shaving hip, getting IV, etc, etc.  I just want to take a moment to point out that from a patient perspective that the nurses (every nurse i encountered) during my stay at cooley dickinson hospital  was way too busy to actually care that i was in the hospital at all. I genuinely feel bad for them and know that 90% of them wish they had more time with the patients.  Dr fallon came to talk to me and after a bit of a wait off we were off to the OR. The crew in the operating was absolutely hilarious joking the whole time until the last thing i remembered (which was some funny jokes from Dr fallon.) You can tell these people LOVE their jobs. I would too  considering once the patient is asleep you can be as goofy and funny as you want. At one point the anesthesiologist said "guys calm down a little the patient is not even out yet" and i said by all means dont worry about me.  The taste you get in your mouth as the anesthesia works it way through your body is disgusting. Its like a mix of chemicals/bleach. It is aVery weird taste!
.

Its now 2pm and im home. Not too bad for a hip surgery in my opinion. Dr fallon said we will go over the details of what he found but Explained thathe took out a chunk of bone that was floating around in my hip. The bone is most likely the reason for the Tear in the labrum. That and the impingment which is just my dumb luck that i was born with a messed up hip socket.  I really need some work on my crutches but im sure ill get plenty of practice in the next month while i can not put any weight on my left leg.  Thank you melissa(my wife) for dealing with my crap! I know it has not been easy and i know i will be healing quickly! If anyone happens to have one of those pedal bikes that is easily moved around i am looooking for one to help in my rehab while sitting at home. Thank you everyone for the good lucks and the get wells. Thank you to A Friend To Friend for all you have done and the support! I can not wait to get better and get back out helping those in need! I have a date with some Ritz Crackers and some diet coke so Hasta Luigi Chicos and chicas!

The day is coming....

Wow today is already  December 2nd can you believe it? I know i cant! My hip surgery is in 4 days YIKES! Im trying to run around and get things done that i can before im out of commision for a bit.  For anyone who cares im having a left hip arthroscopic surgery. Multiple labral tears and needs to be cleaned out and evaluated for future treatments/surgeries.

Can i just take a  moment to say that i  absolutely LOVE Garbage omelets from the Four leaf clover in Bernardston, Mass.  It has mushrooms, peppers, onions, bacon anything and everything you want! YUM YUM YUM!  I bought a gift certificate off of restaurants.com for 4 dollars that was  a $25 gift certificate. Crazy huh? you should check them out, they are always having some really good sales!  We took Mimi and Grampa out for breakfast this morning and it was just a great experience. Good food, Good atmosphere!

I really do try and get as many blog posts done as possible but honestly i never even have a clue what to write about. Im always brain storming and trying to think of ideas. Overall im just a boring person and  not a great writer.   I mean im a pretty silly, quick witted dude but transferring my feelings and goofiness to blog format never comes out the way i want it to.

2AM Rants and Delirium

2AM Rants and Delirium

Honestly  though? What else is there to do at 1:31am on the night after you received a Hip arthogram and the steroids will not release their grip on your awakedness!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!   I figured what the hey HEY lets get another blog post in right? RIGHT?....... R I G H T ! ! ! !

So this is my third Injection and to be completely honest, It actually hurt quite a bit. The first 2 i received i didn't feel a thing and only side effects were High Blood sugars and Not sleeping for about 3-4 nights in a row. Here i am having that same problem now :/ but its OK because in 4 hours when Kaylee wakes up and wants to play i will lay a HUGE super thick comforter down on the floor, lay there and let her crawl all over me playing "dragons"   "playground slide"  and BARBIES! Sooo what, I enjoy playing barbies with her is that such a crime. I mean i have been home with her since she was 4 months old and we have built quite the father-daughter bond.  I would describe our relationship as a "WTF Daddy why cant you lift me up, Are you gonna play with me yet?, When is mommy coming home" Kind of relationship. She loves me to death but its like any relationship whether intimate or family when you spend too much time with a person you take things for granted. You also tend to get sick of each other (In a loving way of course). I'm in no way saying i don't enjoy my time with Kaylee im just saying sometimes it is nice when gramma comes and gets her on Sunday afternoon and The wife is at work all day and i can just watch some football and Veg out.

Kaylee has been having some really hard times with missing mommy the last few weeks because its just worked out that either kaylees at school, melissa is working, Kaylees sleeping or something is going on.  their schedules are just not lining up lately and kaylee repeatedly expresses her yearning for mommy.  The other day we  missed mommyWife so much we drove up to hagars farm stand/store and got some fried dough with maple cream for Melissa and her coworkers.  I gotta tell you if you have not tried Hagars Fried dough then get out and try it! It is THE BEST in this area.  I also tried a goat meatball at Hagars and cant say that was exactly super awesomely delicious. It tasted  alot like dirty bison meat rolled down a Huge hill of manure. YUMMMMY!!!!  the lady did say it was leaner then chicken and one of the healthiest red meats there is..   Maybe i could put enough BBQ sauce on it to make it edible i dont know, and i don't think ill be trying it anytime sooN!
Looks can be deceiving!

BLOG BLOG BLOG@! 11-4-2012

Oh my I am starting a NEW blog again? lol... I was trying to decide if i was going to move all my old blog posts over and add them to this site but decided I wanted a new fresh start to my blog. And what better time to start then now.  I just finished up my 18 month straight program at Porter and Chester, Melissa has started working on her bachelors and masters from elms college.   I go on December 6th for a Arthroscopic hip surgery and am really hoping that is my Kick start i need to get back to work.

For anyone who never read my old blog or doesn't know exactly whats going on i will  give a REAL quick rundown of the past 3 years in my life.  I worked at c&s for 10 years and hurt my back outside of work. I ended up having Lots of herniated discs and pinched nerves. I had a lumbar fusion which was successful in eliminating the Shooting nerve pain down the right leg.  The Nerve pain on the left remained and I told the doctors it was still there. After 8 months of serious pain i landed in the ER one night in more pain then I've ever had. After tons of tests and almost being sent home i had a VERY bad infection that was in the blood, tissues and instrumentation of the Fusion site. I spend 14 days in the hospital and Was sent home to do 2 months of home IV Antibiotics... Good times :/.    From then to now its been TONS Of PT and tons of doctors appointments and I'm sick of it all. I was sent for MRI of my hip because it was killing me and i have walked with a limp since 2009. The MRI showed multiple Tears on my labrum in my left hip and it showed my top of the femur is shaped weird and destroying the hip socket. The surgery on DEC 6th will be to reshape the femur and repair the labrum! I'm pretty excited for this surgery and holding lots of hope that it will Get me to where i can start walking more and maybe even jogging to get my back better.  I think the most important thing someone needs to accept when they are dealing with Chronic pain is that you will never be pain free. So don't strive to be pain free. I have learned so many ways to adjust my life around my back issues. Going to school was the best thing i could have ever done because it kept me from wasting away at home and having my brain go into hibernation.  My long term goal is to own my own company, I have dabbled with it a bit in the past and hope to get it going within the next 10 years.

While checking my  face book one day i  stumbled across a group called a friend to friend that was just starting out(or seemed to be).  I instantly fell in love with the mission of this group. They were all about helping families and individuals who are facing a life limiting illness, injury or anything else that's effecting them badly. It has been one of my values my whole life that if you have extra, even if it is only a few dollars or a few minutes of your time that there is other people out there who could use that more than i could.  I remember when i first got hurt we needed financial help for like 3 weeks while i was waiting for Long tern disability to kick in and No groups would say yes to helping us. i was paying cobra Insurance HUGE premiums to go see doctors what felt like was daily.  A FRIEND TO FRIEND is around for people like me during my hard time who need help to get back on our feet.  That's why i will spend the rest of my life helping as many people as i can to just make it in life!  I know one of the hardest things to do when you are already down is accept help but if you have worked your butt off your whole life or been an overall "good" person there is no reason to feel bad about getting help for a short period to get you back on your feet.  If you are curious about A FRIEND TO FRIEND check them out here WWW.AFRIENDTOFRIEND.COM .  Interested in volunteering your time to help others?  Email A FRIEND TO FRIEND now at info@afriendtofriend.com EMAIL F2F

Tri County Fair! Summertime coming to an end.

Its that time of year my friends and non-friends who read my blog.   That means fried dough, fairs, apple picking, everything fallish. The humidity will slowly dwindle away and we will have chilly nights and luke-warm days. Just how i like it, I personally love fall and i think its what keeps me in new england.  I know for sure it is not the 2 foot snow drifts or icicles hanging off the doorway.

Today we went to the Tri county fair in Northampton, ma. It was definately fun, but i noticed there was not many people there at all. Definately seemed like alot of farmers and people might not of made it where for whatever reason(im guessing hurricane irene, tropical storm whatever). If you are wondering if it is worth going at all i would say yeah for sure its worth it! The tiger show was Very Very good. They let 7 tigers enter the ring and the guy has a handful keeping them from eating him. my kind of entertainment!

[caption id="attachment_446" align="aligncenter" width="488" caption="We sat about 8 feet from the tigers"][/caption]

BRING it on fall... We fernette's are ready to brave your Wallet emptying, Gut filling, Heartburn creating forces.  Im not affraid and welcome it whole heartedly.   Quick update - Kaylee had open house at ja'duke this last week and she is wicked excited to be going to school. She starts on the 9th of September and will go just monday and fridays half days. we decided she didn't need it for learning but more for social interaction.  Also she will do dance on monday's right after school and shes way excited for that.  Kinda weird seeing her grow up like this .  My niece ella started school and had her first day recently and it made me happy but sad at the same moment. Seems like just yesterday she was so tiny and young.  I just have to accept that it never slows down!  Does it?

Tornados Across Western Mass

Wednesday was  a crazy day in western mass. It was around 2:30 when melissa let me know it was going to rain so we ran around the backyard picking up leftovers from our memorial day cookout. The skies wer elooking really weird i remmeber thinking to myself.  We headed inside and watch some news. There was some severe storm watches and warnings then there was a tornodo watch. I had to leave around 4 to head to chicopee to be at class for 6pm. It downpoured right before i left and no tornadoes had hit so i decided i would travel to school.
